Holiday Season

Filed under: Uncategorized — by berrymarymac @ 1:20 pm

The holidays are upon us and I am blessed to have my family with me. But not many families are as lucky as mine.

Remember our soldiers who are still overseas and away from their families. I cannot fathom how hard it is for these families, especially for their children.

If you want to help, please make Christmas cards this season for soldiers. The VA hospitals are a great way to distribute these cards. Many of our soldiers are in the hospital and might not have a family.

Please keep our soldiers in your thoughts this holiday season.

Veganism

I have been fascinated by the vegan lifestyle. I remember my summer of being a raw vegan. Making my chocolate-banana pies, dehydrating onion bread, and my killer salads. I remember the doctor being shocked after reading my blood test, still not believing me when I told him that I was a raw vegan. Prior to this visit, my cholesterol was very high. When I left his office the last day, it was perfect.

I am beginning my life anew, as a vegan. I will cut out seafood, dairy, and eggs. The three things I love so much. But it will be worth it. My life is more important than these simple food items. I might splurge and stray from the path, but I will remember my goal. Not to lose weight, but to be an overall healthier individual.

Here is my pledge: I will begin my process into becoming a vegan right now.

Realization

Today I realized I have made the best decision in my life. I was walking through the music department here at Reinhardt and looked around, coming to a realization. I am meant to teach. Not to perform.

It was a horrible realization, but a needed one. I saw students talking about how they do competitions and perform. How amazing they were. How diva-ish. How horrible!

My purpose in this world is to serve the community (local, national, global). It is my life-long goal to serve people, especially children. This why I am in Circle K and possibly Kiwanis when I graduate.

I have made the best decision in my educational path. I was meant to teach elementary school either in a regular classroom or music. I was born to do this. I am a great singer and performer, but that is not what my life is really for. It is very hard to admit this, since music is my life. I need to do music for myself, not for glory or fame. I need to do this for my life. It is an emotional thing to admit, realize, and see when your life has been so prepared to perform.

I am happy about my decision.

I am an educator. I am a teacher. I am a mentor. I am a member of a community. I am Mary.

Gleek!

Filed under: Uncategorized — by berrymarymac @ 1:38 am

Today was super busy day with tutoring, field experience, more tutoring, and class. Tomorrow is going to be tutoring, field experience (maybe), shopping, and around 4 meetings. And, I’m on duty Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. Oh God, help me! I will be doing homework, baking, making crafts, playing games, and studying. It’s going to be great! I need some “Mary time” badly and just chill.

Finally, last night’s Glee was fabulous and just great. I loved the music and it was enjoyable.

Also, where has this blog been all my life?! http://globalcookies.blogspot.com/

Windy Day

The wind is so strong today that it sounds like a ghost is howling outside of my window. The sun shown down today for a moment and it made me smile.

I took 50 shoe boxes through the Reinhardt Packing Party for Operation Christmas Child today. It was an interesting trip to Woodstock Baptist Church. It was almost frightening to see how big the place was. But it was for an amazing cause. I love Samaritans Purse, even though I am not a “Christian” per-say.

Today was a good day and I have cherished every moment of it. To make my day better, I stumbled upon this wonderful video.
